EDAW 2026: VIVED Activities
Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2026
February 1st to 7th is National Eating Disorders Awareness Week in what is colonially known as “Canada.”
What is Eating Disorders Awareness Week?
Eating Disorders Awareness Week is an annual event held during the first week of February. Each year, organizations from across Canada join together as part of a national campaign to raise awareness and advocate, for those whose lives have been touched by an eating disorder. This year’s theme is “health doesn’t have a look.”
A Message From Our Directors:
While we are immensely proud of our previous EDAW campaigns, this year we have chosen to step back from the national campaign, focus on our community, and honour our present capacity as an organization.
Part of honouring our present capacity as an organization includes recognizing that this time of year is marked by grief and pushing past our limits has often led to burnout. These are not outcomes that sustain us, and that is what we must do - sustain ourselves in this work.
We cannot rely on broader systems to create change; it is up to us as people with lived and living experience (PWLLE), their loves ones, and allies (professionals, etc.) to create meaningful change for those living with (and healing from) eating disorders and related challenges.
We invite you to join us in these activities, whether in-person, online, or in your own ways from afar.
And we gently ask - how can you help to sustain yourself this season? In your journey? In your practice as a professional?
With Gratitude
We thank you for joining us this season and look forward to the ways we will continue to connect as a community throughout the year.
